Мы используем инфинитив (начальную форму глагола) + to в следующих случаях.

  3. После описания эмоций и чувств или описания (не)готовности что-то делать.

  4. Со словами too и enough.

  5. С конструкцией so + прилагательное + as.

    She was so sad as to start crying.

  6. С конструкцией for + существительное/местоимение + to.

    It was too difficult for me to speak English with him.

  7. После некоторых существительных.

Мы употребляем инфинитив (начальную форму глагола) без to в следующих случаях.

  1. С модальными глаголами.

    You can call me whenever you need.

  2. Со словами let, make, watch, see, hear.

    He makes me call him.

  3. С конструкциями would rather, had better.

    I would rather stay at home today.

Мы употребляем глагол с окончанием -ing в следующих случаях.

  1. В качестве подлежащего, которое переводится на русский язык существительным или неопределённой формой глагола.

    Swimming is my favourite summer activity.

  2. Со словами, выражающими предпочтения.

    My dad loves fishing.

  3. Форма V+ing употребляется в функции дополнения без предлога после глаголов:

    • to avoid,
    • to consider,
    • to dislike,
    • to enjoy,
    • to finish,
    • to give up,
    • to mind,
    • to suggest.
