The two most famous Russian authors are, probably, Leo Tolstoy and Fyodor Dostoyevsky.

In Russia, "War and Peace" D \(\underline{ }\) as a patriotic novel that glorifies the heroism of the Russian people while for the foreign readers its anti-war messages turn out to be more relevant. Another striking example is Anna Karenina, which foreign readers E \(\underline{ }\) see as a universal family drama that could happen anywhere and at any time. The family drama overshadows the social and historical context of the novel.
Another Russian novelist, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, is popular abroad as a brilliant portrayer of the so-called "mysterious Russian soul". Outside Russia, the works of Dostoevsky are seen as F \(\underline{ }\) the harsh and passionate nature of Russians. The novel Crime and Punishment is especially famous. This book explores the deepest recesses of human consciousness. Moreover, Dostoyevsky in many ways became the herald of humanistic ideas and philosophical concepts.
