However, there are other interesting cities from a tourist point of view in the USA. We will now tell you about them.
The very first city in the United States, built by Europeans, still exists and is called Saint Augustine, Florida. It is located in northeastern Florida and was founded in 1565 by the Spanish. The first to proclaim Florida B _____ in 1513 was Columbus's companion Juan Ponce De Leon. Then he arrived in Florida in search of the legendary C _____. Saint Augustine has a park dedicated to this mythical artefact. Also in Saint Augustine you can see the D _____ —the Castillo de San Marcos, which was built between 1672 and 1695. The city is home to many historic landmarks such as the Colonial Quarter, a former luxury hotel and the oldest wooden school in America. Saint Augustine was the Spanish capital of the United States for 200 years, and in the XVII century it was conquered by the British.
Charleston is the oldest and E _____ city in South Carolina. It was founded by the British in 1670, about six months after arriving in South Carolina. The city was named after the then king of England and Scotland Charles II. In 1861, F _____ took place at Fort Sumter which was built to guard the city, which led to the Civil War. According to the plot of "Gone with the Wind", Rhett Butler was born and raised in this city. Charleston still has the XVII century homes and chic planter estates. In addition, the city can be visited for its historical sites and city museums. The famous and popular dance Charleston in the 1920s is also named after this city.
