Bilingual Families

In many countries around the globe, it is quite common for children to know two languages at a time and to use them daily to communicate and understand people around them. It is said mostly about children from bilingual families where parents are of different countries, nationalities, backgrounds and, of course, languages. Kids born in these families may know both languages: the dominant language of the country where they were born in (one of their parent's native) and the additional one (used only by the second parent). Parents here may face a dilemma: should their children be brought up bilingual? How can it affect the emotional, physical state and the lifestyle in general?

Some scientists say that children exposed to two languages are good at problem-solving. They tend to be more creative and have good relationships with other people. Besides, they have an easier time learning other languages in the future.

The idea of cultural heritage of both parents may also be fairly essential for their kids. Those parents who decide the high level they would like their child to reach in their heritage language help them acknowledge the importance of their culture as well as develop a strong personal identity and self-confidence.
