For those who want to know how to choose a safe and secure house, here's my next blog in follow-up to the issue of buying a house.
If you are looking for a safe building to live in, it's important to take into account materials it's made of. What material is more durable? Which ones are secure but not too expensive at the same time? Which materials are safer for health? Here are some of the most vital questions you have to deal with.
Brick houses. A brick house can survive rains with hurricanes and hail, severe frosts and drying heat. Such houses are secure, they keep warmth well in winter and have many other advantages. However, as the walls are heavy, such constructions need a strong foundation. In addition, this material is not considered to be cheap.
Frame houses. Most people associate comfort and ecological safety directly with wooden buildings. And the demand for such houses is always very high. Buildings made of wood are mostly frame houses that are rather cheap and quick to build. For instance, a five-room house can be built within two weeks. Still, such constructions must have good insulation* to make them warm during the cold winter season. Moreover, the walls are not too thick, so such buildings are not very secure.
Log houses. A country house built from a log is a dream of many people. Such houses are secure and environmentally friendly. Moreover, they have a long lifetime and don't require much time for construction. However, they are rather expensive and there's a possibility of shrinkage. It is a process that can cause changes in the height of the walls as a result of drying out of the wood material.
Do you have a house? What is it made of? Is it safe and secure? If you don't have a house, which one would you prefer to have? Share your ideas in the comments below.
*Insulation — material that is used to stop heat, sound, or electricity from escaping or entering.
