Imagine that you are doing a project on the top of popular teens professions in Zetland. You have found some data on the subject—the results of the opinion polls (see the table below).

Comment on the data in the table and give your personal opinion on the subject of the project.

Professions Number of teenagers (%)
Blogger 59
Musician 45
Journalist 30
Designer 21
Vet 8

Write 200–250 words.

Use the following plan:

  • make an opening statement on the subject of the project;
  • select and report 2–3 main facts;
  • make 1–2 comparisons where relevant;
  • outline a problem that can arise with the top teenagers' jobs and suggest a way of solving it;
  • draw a conclusion giving your personal opinion on the most popular teenagers jobs in Russia.

It is [common|popular|interesting]knowledge that a choice of your future profession is one of the most burning issues in our days.

[As|While|During]working on my project about the top chosen teens professions for the teenagers, I [have|have been|am]found the results of the opinion polls [for|to|on]the subject. The data of the poll are [gifted|performed|presented]in the form of a table. I'm going to outline the main features the table reflects and [divide|compare|confront]the data.

[As|How|While]it is presented by the table, most teenagers pointed out that they'd like to be—59 % bloggers and 45 % musicians [commonly|usually|respectively].

It should be [mentioned|meant|supposed]that being a blogger isn't an easy job. The popularity and success may come unexpectedly.

As the table [suggests|improves|offers], teenagers also noted that journalism is an attractive job for them. [Despite|Although|However], these occupations are less popular [so|than|how]bloggers and musicians.

[To|In|For]my viewpoint, the above-mentioned trend might [raise|reason|effect]an interesting problem. The labour exchange may face a lack of some professions such as engineers, teachers and doctors. [Moreover|At least|At the same time], many teens can't afford to study at Universities and colleges. [As a result|Because|Although],there will be a lack of well-educated people. [According|To conclude|Looking at] to the table, the designer's profession is considered as well-paid and interesting for teens. I'd like to pay your attention that this profession is taught at the colleges. It means that many teens will be well-educated.

I am convinced that the best solution [on|about|to]this problem is to create more free places at Universities and to tell kids that each profession is interesting, necessary and good.

[On the one hand|To begin with|To sum up], I would like [emphasising|to emphasise|emphasise]that the problem of choosing teens' future career is a burning issue. [But|As|When]we can see they don't choose socially needed professions such as a doctor, a teacher or an engineer. Therefore, we need to [put|make|offer]more effort to tell kids to show teens the whole spheres of life and give them a chance to make a wide choice of occupations.

Imagine that you are doing a project on what the unusual jobs are people doing for a living in Zetland. You have found some data on the subject—the results of the opinion polls (see the diagram below).

Comment on the data in the diagram and give your personal opinion on the subject of the project.

Write 200–250 words.

Use the following plan:

  • make an opening statement on the subject of the project;
  • select and report 2–3 main facts;
  • make 1–2 comparisons where relevant;
  • outline a problem that can arise with choosing an unusual job and suggest a way of solving it;
  • draw a conclusion giving your personal opinion on the unusual jobs

Now read the sample piece of writing below and choose the correct options to complete the text.

In the XXI century there are many unique jobs that are available in different countries.

[As|While|During]working on my project about unusual jobs, I [have|have been|am]collected the results of the opinion polls [for|to|on]the subject. The data of the poll are [gifted|performed|presented]in the form of a diagram. I'm going to outline the main features the diagram reflects and [divide|compare|confront]the data.

[As|How|While]it is presented by the diagram, a very large proportion of [students|adults|children]pointed at the Waterslide Tester job and at the Professional Bridesmaid job—80 % and 75 % [commonly|usually|respectively] It can also [seeing|be seen|see]that the Robotics Engineer is [interest|interested|interesting]only to a small minority of teenagers.

As the diagram [suggests|improves|offers], teenagers would also like to become Feng Shui Consultants. [Despite|Although|However], this job doesn't seem suitable for teens [so|as|how]enjoying the waterslide Tester job.

[To|In|For]my viewpoint, the above-mentioned trend might [raise|reason|effect]an interesting problem. Teens don't want to work ordinary jobs and get a University degree. [Moreover|At least|At the same time], it's not easy to get a job from the diagram because you also need to be skilled. [As for|To conclude|Coming to the point that]me, the job of Robotics Engineer seems well-paid and skilled because you have to get a degree, study hard to be successful in the engineering field.

[On the one hand|To begin with|To sum up], I would like [emphasising|to emphasise|emphasise]that teens would like to work on easy jobs that are more delightful and enjoyable for them. [Personally|Despite|Therefore] teachers should tell them the importance of each profession and discover the inner potential of each student to find a suitable occupation in the future.
