Used to / would
Мы используем used to, когда говорим о действиях происходивших в прошлом, которые уже не являются правдой. Это может относиться к повторяющимся действиям, к состоянию или ситуации.

Example: We used to go to the cinema once a month when I was a child.

We didn't use to go to the cinema once a month when I was a child.

Did you use to go to the cinema once a month when you were a child?

Еще один способ обозначить привычное повторяющееся действие в прошлом — использовать глагол would. Но нужно помнить, что если речь идёт о факте из прошлого, не имеющего места в настоящем, мы используем used to.

Example: I used to think that penguins are mammals, not birds because they do not fly. (NOT "would think").
