Ты проводишь информационный поиск в ходе выполнения проектной работы. Определи, в каком из текстов A–F содержатся ответы на интересующие тебя вопросы 1–7. Один из вопросов останется без ответа. Занеси ответы в поле ответов.

1. How can modern technologies change the ecological situation?

2. Why is the construction of new buildings an issue?

3. Why shouldn't people underestimate plants in terms of ecology?

4. Where does contamination of this natural resource lead to?

5. Why is it important to turn old things into new materials and products?

6. What is the most dangerous killer on Earth?

7. What problems does a rapid increase in people on Earth cause?

A.Water pollution is an important issue to study. Without water, we won't survive long. Polluted water endangers our lives through diseases, chemicals or toxins staying in it. Lack of clean water leads to a dramatic decline in people's and animals' health. One way to bring clean water to people is by digging wells. Another way is creating and distributing high-quality and affordable water filters.

B.Urban sprawl, or the uncontrolled growth of cities, is a modern problem that threatens the environment. Moving to a new location isn't hard these days. With the help of constantly evolving modern technologies, people keep creating new districts in record time, and undeveloped land is becoming deserted. Covering the landscape with concrete affects the natural water cycle and prevents rainwater from getting into the ground. This became obvious to everyone during the disastrous Hurricane Harvey in 2017 and the floods that it had caused.

C.We don't normally think much before throwing something in a dustbin. But the truth is, the average person generates 4.6 pounds of rubbish per day, which is a lot. This rubbish goes to landfills or to natural habitats, such as oceans and forests. This process is dangerous for not only the Earth and its environment, but humans as well. When waste is burnt, it emits deadly toxins into the air, which people breathe in. However, we can reduce the amount of waste by choosing to use products that can be recycled or reused.

D.There are more than seven billion people on the planet right now — and that number is expected to reach 9.7 billion by 2050. As the world's population grows, the amount of resources available for survival decreases. In fact, humanity has grown to a number where there are no more enough resources for each person. Also, the more people we have on Earth, the more they release carbon dioxide and other gasses into the air. The growth of the population goes along with the cost of greenhouse gasses and climate change.

E.At least 15% of greenhouse gas emissions don't come from cars or factories — they come from deforestation. By 2030, we may only have 10% of the rainforests left — the rest will have been cut down for wood or for agricultural use. Additionally, more than 70% of the planet's species live in forests. Species lose their habitats. Ecosystems die out. Climate change continues. Deforestation has lots of effects that people don't pay enough attention to.

F.Human body is affected by pollution if it is in the air or in the water we drink. Pollution puts the environment in danger, and only people can prevent even worse consequences. Pollution is the main reason why so many people die nowadays, it takes more than 100 million lives every single year — and that's just human lives. People who live in areas with high levels of air pollution are 20% more likely to die of lung cancer — even if they have never smoked in their lives.
