There are lots of musical genres that are popular these days. For instance, rock, instrumental, pop and electronic music, hip-hop and some others. However, there is one genre that [considers|considered|is considered|had considered] to be one of the most popular modern genres — rap.

In the English language the noun "rap" has several meanings, and one of them is "a short noise, especially one made by hitting a hard surface", and the verb "to rap" [is meant|mean|was meant|means] "to talk" or "to hit something". That is why this word was chosen to describe the type of music when a person does not sing but actually says the text, and the background music is very rhythmical. A person who performs rap is called a rapper.
