If you have ever thought about becoming a professional comic book artist, you may have wondered what skills you need to succeed. Comic book artists illustrate parts of comic books or graphic novels. Some of them may create the whole comics from the very beginning, including the idea, plot, characters and everything else. Others do pieces of work for a comics company, contributing to one small part of the comic book, such as the backgrounds or a particular character.

Like for many professions in the art world, having a degree isn't necessary to become a comic book artist. Also, in the comic book industry, it's common to pay per page, so the money you earn may depend on how many pages you can draw per day.
