Presenter: Hello everybody and welcome to the World Travelling Digest. And our guest today is a popular travel blogger Mary Collins. Hello, Mary!
Mary: Hi, everybody! It's so nice to be here today!
Presenter: Well, I have lots of questions to ask you but let's start from the beginning. So, tell us how you decided to start travelling.
Mary: Well, it happened ten years ago. That time I was working as a sales manager in a small company. It was awfully boring and made me absolutely unhappy. One day I woke up and decided to change my life. I quit my job and set off on a journey to Thailand. Oh...it was really exciting.
Presenter: Sounds intriguing. What happened next?
Mary: One day my friends presented me with a new camera. At first, I had no idea how to use it but then I took a course on photography. I started taking photos of everything around me and soon photographing became my passion as well as travelling.
Presenter: And how did it lead you to blog?
Mary: Oh, it happened when I came back from my journey to Brazil. I took a lot of photos that time. All these juicy colours, beautiful people wearing carnival costumes, amazing views were really impressive...you know. I couldn't stop photographing all of that. When my friends saw those pictures, they advised me to start a blog and share my pictures with people.
Presenter: And how much time did it take to attract so many followers?
Mary: Well, at first I didn't take my blogging experiments so seriously. I shared my pictures and commented on them. The situation changed when I got a contract with a cruise company. All I had to do was go on different cruises taking beautiful pictures and sharing them in my blog. In about a month I already had about twenty thousand subscribers. By the end of the year, their amount rose to a million.
Presenter: Wow, your story seems to be really inspiring! How many countries have you visited so far?
Mary: Oh, It's pretty hard to say, you see...maybe about thirty but I'm not sure.
Presenter: What places or countries haven't you visited yet?
Mary: Australia, Arctica and Antarctica are some of them and I really want to go there.
Presenter: And where are you going to go next?
Mary: I'm going to Japan. It will be a short trip but I hope to learn a little bit more about this amazing country.
