Enigmatic Sanskrit
It is one of the most ancient, noble, and mysterious languages [ ]. Still spoken by members of the higher castes [ ], it has many similarities with Slavic and Finno-Ugric languages. How did it appear so far away? And is it really a " [ ]"?
Sanskrit is an ancient Indian language with a complex [ ]. According to one of the translations, it means " [ ]". According to another translation, it means " [ ]", which shows its religious purpose. Almost all well-known religious texts of Ancient India, like Mahabharata or Ramayana, are in Sanskrit. You will probably be surprised, but the name of the language does not say anything about [ ]. It was used as a literary language, not for [ ], but most Indian languages derived from it.
Sanskrit was spoken only by the eligible people, and like many ancient scripts, it was [ ]. There was no original [ ], and later, the words were written using the local alphabet. One of the [ ] systems that transcribed Sanskrit is called Brahmi. Today, the most popular way to write in Sanskrit is Devanagari, which [ ] from the Brahmi script. It is used for writing in more than [ ] languages, and its signs look really beautiful. Sanskrit is well-preserved because the Indian people kept learning the texts [ ] even after the writing system had appeared. Thus, they wanted to save the language from enormous changes.
There is no certain answer to how Sanskrit appeared on the territory of [ ]. But according to its similarity with Slavic and Finno-Ugric languages, we may say that it had migrated from [ ] countries. Presumably, it happened in the [ ] century BC. Like most [ ] languages, it is derived from the Pro-Indo-European language. The proof is plenty of [ ] words existing in all these languages.
Can we call Sanskrit a dead language? Firstly, let us remember that it was not used in everyday speech: it had mostly a religious and [ ] meaning. But the term "dead" does not mean the language is forgotten. Scientists call it so because the language [ ]. Secondly, the language belongs to the [ ] official languages of India and is still used in science. Nowadays, with the popularity of Indian culture in the world, Sanskrit is becoming more and more popular among [ ], as well. In usual book shops, one can find many books on [ ].
