Ice Cream

It was Sunday morning, and I didn't know what to do. All the homework was already done, as well as the cleaning and washing. I asked myself whether I should go shopping for some necessary products when my phone suddenly rang.

—Hi?

—Hi, Sophie!

Oh, it was Derek.

—Hi, Derek! How are you?

While feeling as my heart starts to beat like crazy, I thought "Oh dear, why is he calling me?" It was believed that Derek was the most handsome and talented guy in our school.

—I'm fine, Sophie. I'm just… Maybe, we should go to a café?

Unbelievable! Derek invited me to hang out with him. My friend Anny asked me yesterday where I was going to go on Sunday. Well, it turned out that my Sunday might be really wonderful!

—Oh, yes! Great idea!

—Then, let's meet in "Hey" café in half an hour.

I chose the dress, put on some make-up and told my mum that I would go for a walk with a friend. She smiled:

— I hope that it is not a date. You mentioned being friends with some boy named Derek…

—Oh, mum, stop it, please.

—OK. I'm just teasing you. I'm very happy for you! You look perfect today, Sophie. I promise that he will fall in love with you.

I couldn't stand this anymore and waved her goodbye.

—Bye-bye! And also, I remind you to visit your aunt Jemma and her little son Bobby. After your date, you should call in.

When I arrived at the place, Derek was already there. He smiled at me and pointed to my bag.

—Let me help?

I nodded. He offered to help me and carry on my bag! Oh, so romantic!

We entered the café and found a tiny table near the window.

—What do you want?

—Derek, I don't know, maybe…

A loud voice near my ear interrupted my way of thinking.

—If you don't know what to choose, take our special ice cream! It's the most popular dish in our café. It is estimated that we sell almost three hundred portions of it a month,—the waiter appeared suddenly and encouraged me to try the ice cream. Recommendation from the waiter was ice cream? Strange, but still.

—OK, let it be two portions of ice cream… And two glasses of orange juice,—Derek decided for me.

Well, the question of how to be patient and calm came up suddenly. The two of us were sitting together… Not knowing what to say… So embarrassing.

—Sophie… I wanted to ask you…

He was going to confess to me that he loved me. What should I do?

—Have you done the homework for our maths class? Really, I'm so stupid that I don't know how to solve this equation. I treated you to some ice cream, so now you must help me!

Well, I would agree with him that the homework was quite difficult. But, how? I couldn't believe my ears. It seemed that my heart was broken.

—OK, let me see,—I took his notebook and laughed at myself. I'd better stop watching so many romantic movies.

Suddenly, the waiter gave us the food. At least, the ice cream was delicious.

I knew about what I would complain to Anny.

Derek was admired by his peers at school.
