  1. There is a great variety of verbs we can use for reporting. There are: to claim, to promise, to believe, to inform, to advise, to suggest and others. Their usage depends a lot on their [ ] meaning.
  2. The first type of reporting verbs is reporting verbs with [ ]-clause. For example, He said that he was happy.
  3. Some of these verbs necessarily require an [ ] before a that-clause. Such verbs include to assure, to tell, to notify, to convince, to warn, to persuade. For example, She warned me that this flower was poisonous.
  4. Other verbs can be used without the object. For example, He confessed that he had committed the crime. But if we use them with an object, they require some [ ].

  7. Finally, the verbs to demand, to ask, to beg, to require need the preposition [ ]. For example, I begged of him that he had to change his decision.
