\(\boxed{4}\) Imagine that you are doing a project about different kinds of sport together with your friend. You have found some illustrations, and you want to share them. Leave a voice message to your friend. In 2.5 minutes be ready to:

  • give a brief description of the photos, justifying the choice of the photos for the project;
  • say in what way the pictures are different, justifying the choice of the photos for the project;
  • mention the advantages and disadvantages (1–2) of the team and individual kinds of sports;
  • express your opinion on the subject of the project, whether you prefer team and individual kinds of sports and why.

You will speak for not more than 3 minutes (12–15 sentences). You have to talk continuously.

Now read the suggested answer below and choose the correct options to complete the text.

Hey, Christy! This is Jinnie. I wanted to talk [after|for|to]you about the project we were doing. I've found a couple of [palpable|suitable|sombre]illustrations, check your email, they've got to be there already.

In one photo, there is a group of young adults playing football. They look like they're enjoying [them|themselves|their]very much. The other photo presents to us a young woman [who|what|why]is running at a stadium. She's pretty focused [on|in|over]her run. These photos are great for our project because they represent the opposite kinds of sports: football is a team sport while running belongs [for|to|after]the list of individual sports.

Both types have advantages and disadvantages. Team sports are good for developing communication skills and [learning|leaned|learn]how to work in a group. If you build good relations with your teammates, you can have lots of fun playing team sports and even find good friends among these people. However, if you do not succeed at [finds|find|finding]common ground with them, it may be hard to enjoy the games fully and communicate outside of the [necessity|necessary|needless]team activities. Individual sports teach you to spend time alone, and you may find yourself learning how to focus during training. There's no risk of having a bad relationship with someone if you're just on [us|your|you]own. But the negative side of it is, you won't make new friends here either.

If I were to choose, [I'd|I'll|I'm]go for individual sports. I'm an introvert, and I prefer to spend time by myself, I get tired of people very quickly. It's more [comfortable|cooperating|condescending]for me that I'm responsible only for my own win or loss, that I don't need to communicate [imperatively|constantly|instantaneously], that I can train and focus on my thoughts in the process. This is positively motivational for me.

In the end, doing any sport will benefit you, either by developing new skills or just releasing some of the psychological tension by physical means. Everyone should choose what is better for them personally, only then they can truly enjoy it.
