What are dependent prepositions?
[Dependent|Independent] prepositions are the [phrases|prepositions] that are naturally and frequently used with specific adjectives, verbs and nouns.

Dependent Prepositions vs. Phrasal Verbs
Don't confuse phrasal verbs such as stand up, run away, come back and etc. with dependent prepositions. The main difference between a phrasal verb and a preposition-dependent verb is that a phrasal verb [can|can't] be followed by an adverb, and the phrase [has|hasn't] its own meaning. Dependent prepositions[create|do not create]a new phrase.
