Introductory Verbs in Reported Speech
There are some introductory words which are used in reported speech. Study the information:

  • agree/ offer/ promise/ refuse/ demand/ threaten + to -inf
  • advise/ beg/ command/ invite/ order/ remind/ warn + sb + to -inf
  • admit/ accuse sb of/ apologise for/ boast of(about)/ complain to sb of/ deny/ insist on/ prefer/ suggest + gerund
  • agree/ explain/ complain/ deny/ exclaim/ remark/ promise/ suggest + that-clause

Note: admit, advise, boast, insist, threaten, warn, remind can also be followed by a that-clause in reported speech.
