Part of Society

People are different, and it is quite good. People of our parents' and grandparents' time used to be generally extroverts. They loved gathering together in big companies, invited guests, and allowed their faraway relatives to live in their houses as long as the latter wanted. It was a usual thing to knock on your neighbour's door and ask for some salt because you had run out of it. People mostly did not spend their major events in cafes or restaurants: they invited guests to their own houses even if it was a wedding or a children's birthday.

Now, with the growth of urban localities, people are becoming more and more introverted. We meet other people more often, and on weekends and holidays, we want to escape from them. We are not against spending time with our families, but we try to act on our own even in public places. Some people may say that we become more selfish and think only about ourselves: our children, families, and interests, but it is not a bad thing. Times are changing, and if people were taught they were a part of the collective, later they began to intend to meet their own needs first.

However, we must not forget that we still remain a part of society. Ignoring others means others will ignore you back. Helping other people and reckoning with them make us merciful and caring. One cannot take care of his own family and not adhere to the rules accepted in society.

For instance, remember the old anecdote about a mother with a child and chewing gum. It is about a child going on a bus with his mother and kicking the seat of the person sitting in front of him. When that person asked the child to stop it, his mum said she let him do anything he liked because she brought him up according to a new method. Then, a young guy who was standing nearby took the chewing gum out of his mouth and stuck it onto the woman's forehead. "My parents brought me up according to the same method!" she said and left the bus.

The conclusion we must outline from the anecdote is that people should remember that their family is not the only one in the world.
