Community service is the best punishment for young people who commit minor offences

[ ] a lot of discussions nowadays is that minor offences among youngsters should be punished with community service, not with fines, warnings or imprisonment. Some people agree with it, while others say there should be more varied ways to make young offenders pay for breaking the law.

[ ], sentencing young people to community service has more advantages for society as it makes juvenile offenders more aware of the consequences of their actions. [ ], youngsters will know that helping sick people or repairing the damaged property instead of paying a fine will stop them from vandalism or unlawful possession of suspected stolen property. [ ], doing some work for society will help them spend time more useful than just wandering around the streets offending.

[ ], there is an opposing point of view on this issue. Critics say that there are minor crimes, for example, trespassing or burglary which can be violent against other people, so the young offender presents a direct danger to anyone in the community. [ ], having committed a minor offence, for example, disorderly conduct, and being punished with short-term community service, they may have a temptation to commit a more severe crime. If these wrongdoers are caught, the best idea is to punish them with imprisonment.

[ ] with this point of view because imprisonment may affect the life of a young adult. Apart from the serious challenge of surviving in prison, they can become more violent and re-offend with a more severe crime when they are released. [ ], a criminal record can spoil a young offspring's future and make him more aggressive towards society. In this case, punishments should be more humane so as not to cause unpredictable actions from the side of the fragile mental state of a yob.

[ ], the matter of punishment for youngsters who commit minor crimes is still to be discussed. In my view, imposing community service on young people can reduce the rate of crimes on the whole and help to look at their illegal behaviour from another angle.
