They use mobile phones and laptops about eight hours a day, and they have access to every corner of the world via the Internet and social media. Most of them are fond of playing computer games and are interested in virtual reality more than in real life. About 75% of modern teens have their own TV sets in their rooms and spend more than 4 hours a day on watching shows and movies. Are they turning to anti-social, square-eyed couch potatoes? Well it's true, I love watching movies, but it's not the only interest of mine. It's unfair to think that my generation is uneducated or «square-eyed». I mean we study hard and try to do our best. I know many peers who are very ambitious and go-getters, you know. The USA is the country of opportunities, but if you do nothing you'll get nothing. It's the rule of life and we know it. I love to unwind my Friday evening being at home alone. It's the evening of my self-care. I take a bath, have some spa and order something tasty. Then I read a book or watch a movie. It depends on my mood. And it's not bad to have some rest, is it?

I'm studying at the University as an IT specialist, but living in Germany isn't free. So I have to work in the evenings. It's a coffee shop in my district. It's cozy, nice with a calm atmosphere. You can meet a lot of teens and students there. They need to have a quiet place to go and study or read something. Yes, most of them come with their laptops, but it's ok. We are Z- Generation: we have technologies but we know how to use them. Not all teens are gamers. Many of us are using their laptops for studying, getting information and researching. I think it's cool that we have access to any type of information when we need it. By the way, I love studying, but also I love making music. My friends and I have a small rock band. And we love what we do — you can't beat the atmosphere when the music is blaring and everybody is singing your songs. It's amazing.

Watching TV is very popular in my country, but it's not the only thing we love doing. South Korea is very famous for its entertainment. We have our own movie genre Dorama, which is very popular around the world. That's the reason why watching TV is popular. But if you watch any of it you'll see how motivating they are. Most of them are encouraging teens to study hard, to be creative, to think free and follow our hearts. Life in Korea isn't very easy, but people are very kind. We respect our elders, it's part of our culture and mentality and Doramas highlight this a lot. It's catchy. I think it's not bad to spend time watching something interesting and relaxing. But it's important not to spend all your free time on it.
