Cultural sites are often sacred to local people and integral to a country's history. When travelling and visiting archaeological sites you can easily damage fragile historical artefacts. Here are two tips on how to protect ancient places from harmful human impact.

  1. Leave all artefacts. Historical and religious artefacts can be sacred to the locals and scientists can learn valuable lessons about the past when objects stay where they are. Artefacts include pottery pieces, stone tools, rock flakes, and corn cobs. It's illegal to remove them or wrench [away|with|off|out] their parts! Nothing good will become [with|at|from|of] archaeological sites if everyone touches even a small piece they like.

  2. Steer clear of walls. Ancient walls and surfaces are easily damaged. Please refrain from touching, leaning, standing, or climbing on any structures, no matter how solid they look. Avoid moving actively or cutting [in front|ahead|by|out] of the line during the excursion and don't [quit|squeeze|come|reclaim] past the crowd close to historical structures and artefacts.
