Cultural sites are often sacred to local people and integral to a country's history. When travelling and visiting archaeological sites you can easily damage fragile historical artefacts. Here are two tips on how to protect ancient places from harmful human impact.

  1. Historic artifacts are not trash. If you see any historic artefacts like rusted cans, don't rush to get [clear|clean|close|cliff] of them. "The [do|don't|dare|done] thing" is to leave them right where they are. They may help interpret the past and show who has inhabited or visited the site before.

  2. Camp and eat away from archaeology. Even if you take time [behind|off|from|by] during your trip, you shouldn't consider archaeological remains as a good place for a picnic. Camping, fires, and food can damage the ruins and spoil the view for other visitors. Remember to check [in|out|up|over] that you haven't left your waste before moving further.
