Read the text about the Russian and British educational systems and complete the table about the differences between them.
The educational systems in different countries aren't usually the same. Let's compare the Russian and British systems.
In both systems, there is primary and secondary school. In Russia, children start primary school at the age of 6 or 7. In Britain, they start it at the age of 4 or 5. In both countries, students study similar subjects (for example, mathematics, languages, science). Both countries have universities that students can enter after they finish school.
In Russia, the school year starts on September 1st. In the UK, it usually starts at the beginning of September, but the exact date can be different. Wearing a school uniform is common in Russia but not always compulsory, while in Britain, most schools require uniforms.
Secondary education is compulsory in both the Russian and British systems, but the examination systems differ. In Russia, students take the Unified State Exam to graduate and enter university. Russian students finish secondary school at the age of 17 or 18.
In Britain, students take the GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education) at 16 and the A-level (Advanced Level) at 18. Some students in Russia can receive a certificate after the 9th grade, while in the UK this is possible only after the 11th grade.
Although the Russian and British educational systems differ, they both offer a good education with similar subjects and the opportunity to study at university.
