This vitamin is found in liver, butter, whole milk, cheese and egg yolks \(retinol\), carrots, leafy greens, sweet potatoes, pumpkins, cantaloupes and so on. It is extremely important for skin health, mucous membrane health, visual functions, bone health and tooth development. A deficiency of it can cause impaired growth, night-blindness, diarrhoea and increased mortality. Experiments in giving large supplements of this vitamin for malnourished kids have had mixed results. Some results have reported a reduction in infant and children's mortality.
