Pansy Jeffery used to be a community worker. One day she decided to open her own centre for the elderly. "It was clear to me that there was an increasing number of senior citizens who were suffering from loneliness and depression. I had to do something," recalls Pansy. The Pepper Pot Centre, which has just celebrated its 25th birthday, encourages the elderly to socialise. This involves going hiking together, organising charity events, and simply having fun! While the centre runs mostly on donations, it charges a small fee to cover the cost of its services.
