Handa Island Sanctuary is a wildlife reserve. It is home to over 100,000 birds! The area is protected by the Scottish Wildlife Trust, a government-funded organisation that preserves all wild animals in Scotland. Since Handa is a protected area, no-one is allowed to live there, except for the forest ranger whose job is to oversee the people that visit the island each year.
