Valentina Tereshkova was born on March 6, 1937, in a small village in Russia. She grew up in a big family and loved the outdoors. She was an adventurous and curious child, always dreaming of doing something extraordinary.

In the 1960s, when Valentina was in her 20s, something incredible was happening – space exploration! The Soviet Union was sending astronauts into space, and Valentina decided she wanted to be a part of it. She trained hard and learned everything she could about space.

On June 16, 1963, Valentina Tereshkova travelled in space in a spacecraft named Vostok 6. For almost three days, Valentina orbited the Earth, going around it 48 times. During her journey, Valentina conducted experiments and took pictures of the Earth.

After her historic space journey, Valentina Tereshkova became a national hero in the Soviet Union. She continued to work in the space program and helped train other astronauts. She also became involved in politics and represented her country around the world.

Valentina Tereshkova's journey to space inspired many people, to dream big. She showed them that with determination and hard work, you could achieve your dreams, no matter how impossible they might seem.
