Compound adjectives
Compound adjectives are adjectives made up of two or more words.
There are different types of compound adjectives depending on the way they are formed:
- adjective + noun: a long-distance call;
- noun + adjective: ice-cold lemonade;
- number + noun: a seventeenth-century mansion;
- noun + noun: a waterproof tent;
- noun + past participle: homemade bread;
- adverb + past participle: freshly-squeezed juice;
- noun/adjective/adverb + present participle: a spine-chilling film.
