Presenter: The problem of deforestation is one of the urgent issues nowadays. Today in our studio we are talking about ecological balance in the forests. Mr Sanders, an ecologist, has agreed to discuss some of the questions connected with this widespread ecological problem. Good afternoon, Mr Sanders! Welcome to our programme.

Ecologist: Good afternoon! It is my pleasure to be here.

Presenter: Today many ecology activists are worried about the constant cutting down of trees in many areas around the country. Why do people do it?

Ecologist: Well, the main reason is that the farming industry is developing and many farmers prefer to cut down the trees to settle their farms there. They breed their domestic animals on that land. Making a profit dictates new rules for the environment, unfortunately.

Presenter: That is true. How does it affect nature?

Ecologist: Apart from the lack of fresh air provided by forests, different animal species are also suffering from the destruction of their natural habitats. As a result, they have to survive in different conditions and there is a slim chance for them to do it. They can become extinct or die.

Presenter: Are there any solutions to solve this problem? How can people care about animals and their habitats?

Ecologist: To my way of thinking, and many people will agree here, the first thing we can do is to address our authorities who distribute land to farmers. They should consult locals and conservationists who take care of the nature in this area and find out if some other lands can be distributed to farmers. Maybe there are places which have already been used by other people and are more suitable for farming than the forest nearby. In this case, I think cutting down the trees is the last step.

Presenter: Yes, and wildlife won't suffer from their habitat deprivation.

Ecologist: People should be responsible for the world around them and try to prevent deforestation using all possible ways.

Presenter: Thank you, Mr Sanders! I have the same opinion.
