Conditionals
Conditionals — условные предложения. В английском языке существует несколько видов условных предложений, разделяемых по типам.
Нулевой тип условных предложений (0 Conditional) используется для описания общеизвестных фактов и явлений:
If + Present Simple, Present Simple.
Example: If you heat the water up to 100 degrees, it boils.
Первый тип условных предложений (1st Conditional) используется для выражения реальных или вероятных действий в настоящем или будущем.
If + Present Simple, will + V1.
Example: If the weather is fine, we will go to the country.
Второй тип условных предложений (2nd Conditional) используется для описания ситуаций в настоящем или будущем времени с низкой степенью вероятности.
If + Past Simple, would + V1.
Example: If I were you, I would tell him the truth.
If he had a lot of money, he would buy a new house.
Третий тип условных предложений (3rd Conditional) используется для описания нереальных ситуаций в прошлом, а также чтобы передать сожаление о совершённых или несовершённых поступках в прошлом и для критики произошедших событий.
If + Past Perfect, would have + V3.
Example: If he had invited me to the party, I would have come.
Смешанный тип условных предложений (Mixed Conditionals), в котором некоторые типы могут чередоваться.
2nd Conditional + 1st Conditional.
Example: If they did their housework, they will be praised now.
2nd Conditional + 3rd Conditional.
Example: If you were more disciplined, you wouldn't have been fired.
2nd Conditional + 3rd Conditional.
Example: If they hadn't missed the meeting, they would know its outcomes
