The Arbat
A. Moscow's Arbat District runs west from the Kremlin to the Moskva River. The Arbat is Moscow's main pedestrian street with many shops, restaurants, museums and theatres. To get there, you can use the metro.
B. The name "Arbat" means "suburbs" in the Tatar language. Historically, it was the place where soldiers and blacksmiths lived. In the 18th century, it was no longer suburban, and many rich people built their houses here. In the 19th century, it became the home of the Russian aristocracy.
C. The Arbat is the place of many historical landmarks, such as Pushkin Memorial House, the famous Spaso House, the residence of the US ambassador, the Church of the Saviour in Peski and many other interesting monuments.
D. Among historical buildings, you can also find some unusual museums, such as the Giant's House and the Museum of Illusions. Besides, there is a rope labyrinth and a petting zoo.

G. Tourists like to visit this place because the variety of souvenirs there is incredible. Visitors can buy winter fur caps, matryoshkas, amber, flags, souvenirs with the Kremlin or the Moskva River.
