Present Simple и Present Continuous обозначают действия, происходящие в настоящем. Разница состоит в том, что Present Simple чаще всего употребляется для обозначения регулярных и неизменных действий, а Present Continuous — действий, происходящих в момент речи.

I brush my teeth every day. Я чищу зубы каждый день. (Present Simple.)

Past Tenses

Past Simple и Past Continuous обозначают действия, произошедшие в прошлом. Разница состоит в том, что Past Simple чаще всего употребляется для обозначения фактов, а Past Continuous — действий, происходивших в определённый момент в прошлом.

I brushed my teeth yesterday. Я почистил зубы вчера. (Past Simple.)

I was brushing my teeth when father came. Я чистил зубы, когда вошёл папа. (Past Continuous & Past Simple.)

I/he/she/it + was + Ving.

We/you/they + were + Ving.
