Degrees of Comparison

В английском языке, как и в русском, имеется три степени сравнения прилагательных: положительная, сравнительная и превосходная. Они называются так: Positive, Comparative and Superlative Degrees.

Если прилагательное состоит менее чем из трёх слогов, то степени образуются при помощи суффиксов -er в сравнительной степени и определённого артикля the и суффикса -est — в превосходной.

Big — bigger — thebiggest.

Если слово длинное, степени сравнения образуются при помощи слов more и the most.

Beautiful —morebeautiful —the mostbeautiful.

Существуют также слова-исключения, которые меняются при сравнении. Их нужно запомнить.

Good —better— thebest; bad —worse— theworst.
