A. The pandemic has made a lot of people think about where they want to live long term. So many of us are eager to travel again and some even want to go away for longer periods. The first thing you need to consider is the visa situation. I've seen so many posts in travel groups where people declare they want to move to Italy or Australia, but have no idea how or if they can do it. Find the information on how you'll be able to live and work abroad. Every country has its own visa options and every person's situation is unique.

B. Another big factor to think about is your future workplace. This will depend a lot on your work situation. Are you being sponsored by a local company that is bringing you over? Are you moving to an international office with your current company? Or are you going to get a new job after you arrive? Obviously, it's much easier if you already have a job lined up. Many people move abroad because of their work.

C. Prices in your dream destination can also be important. Luckily, it's easy to find all the information you need online and most travellers have a general idea of which places are expensive and which places are cheap. The other good news is that even in expensive places, it is possible to live on a tight budget having adapted with some lifestyle changes.

D. If you plan to return home regularly for weddings or holidays, or perhaps even need to fly home for work, consider a country that is not far from your home country. On the other hand, of course, you may be trying to get as far away from home as possible. Perhaps, this is your only opportunity to live abroad, and you want to choose a far-away and completely different place.

E.Language is a big factor in choosing where to move abroad. For example, you are two native English speakers and you want to be in a place where you can speak English. On the other hand, you may prefer a place where you can work on or use a second language. I personally love the idea of moving to a place where I can speak a foreign language, improving my language fluency.

F. For some people, the weather isn't an issue. And for others, it's the main issue. I've heard from many travellers who prefer to chase summer around the world, who I'm sure would be very unhappy living in Finland in the winter. Others believe that there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing choices. If you're sensitive to weather, you should also check out the housing options in your desired area. Do they have central heating or air conditioning?

G.You probably don't need to know the exact population numbers of every city you're considering moving to, but whether that city is large or small is essential information. This will tell you a lot about the amenities available and what daily life will be like for you. If you grew up in a large metropolis, you may be bored in a small town. Also, a small town would mean that there are fewer English speakers, fewer shops and stores.
