Put the verbs into Present Simple or Present Continuous.
Present Simple
We use the Present Simple tense when:
- the action is general;
- the action happens all the time, or habitually, in the past, present and future;
- the action is not only happening now;
- the statement is always true.
Examples: The Moon goes round the Earth.
I usually get up at 8 o'clock.
I live in London.
The structure of the Present Simple with the main verb be is subject + main verb "be" (am/is/are).
Examples: I am a doctor.
He is a taxi driver.
They are pupils.
We also use "do/does" to form questions and negative sentences. Study the examples:
She doesn't go to school.
Does he fix his car on Friday?
Do you get excellent marks in English?
I don't want to eat chocolate cake.
Pay attention:
We usually add -s or -es to the main verb if we talk about the person in the third form (he/she/it). Study the examples:
She always washes the dishes after lunch.
Mike goes to school on Monday.
He loves playing in the garden.
My dog Sarah swims fast in the river.
Present Continuous
Present Continuous (also called Present Progressive) is used in several different ways:
interrupted actions in the present,
parallel actions in the present.
We make Present Continuous by using the present tense of the verb "to be" (am/is/are) and the present participle (the -ing form) of the main verb:
subject + am/is/are + present participle.
I am working right now.
They are kissing when her father is phoning the car master.
Note! Stative verbs are not usually used in the continuous form.
