Imagine that you are doing a project on how teenagers can get pocket money. You have collected some data on the subject—the results of the opinion polls (see the table below).
Comment on the data in the table and give your personal opinion on the subject of the project.

| Doing household chores | 65 |
| Following household rules | 41 |
| Doing homework | 28 |

• make an opening statement on the subject of the project work;
• select and report 2–3 main features;
• make 1–2 comparisons where relevant;
• outline a problem that can arise with getting pocket money and suggest the way of solving it;
• draw a conclusion giving your personal opinion on the importance of getting pocket money.
Now read the sample piece of writing below and choose the correct options to complete the text.
[It is a |popular |celebrated] fact that the question of giving a teenage child pocket money is tricky and disputable. [As|While|During] working on my project about how teenagers can get pocket money, I [have|have been|am] collected the results of the opinion polls [for|to|on] the subject. The data of the poll are [gifted|performed|presented] in the form of a table. I ['m going | am going|going] to outline the main features the table reflects and [divide|compare |confront] the data.
[As|How|While] it is presented by the table, most adolescents get [pocket|free |extra] money by doing household chores and following household rules—65 % and 41 % [commonly|usually|respectively]. It can also [seeing|be seen|see] that good behaviour might be the [goal|reason|subject] for getting pocket money only for a small minority of teenagers.
As the table [suggests|improves|offers], teenagers might also be [won|rewarded|changed] with extra money as they do homework and have excellent academic performance. [Despite|Although|However], these options are only half as workable to teenagers [so|as|how] household responsibilities.
[To|In|For] my opinion, the above-mentioned trend might [cause|reason|effect] a significant problem. Getting pocket money [gives|give|giving] teenagers a sense that everything can be bought. [As a result|Because|Although], many adolescents might refuse helping parents and siblings [except|without|in case] any monetary rewards. I am convinced that the best solution [on|about|to] this problem is to talk to teenagers about rights and obligations and also provide a child with a caring atmosphere where everybody is willing to help [so that|to|for] students could see that money means little in a life. [On the one hand|To begin with|In conclusion], I would like [emphasising|to emphasise|emphasise] that getting pocket money is a controversial but crucial stage on the way of growing up. Due [to|for|in] a small financial independence teenagers learn how to spend, save and [receive|earn|waste].

Nowadays, more and more teenagers are thinking about earning money on their [own|oneselves|self]. Doing a project about reading, I found an opinion poll on how teenagers get money and collected some data. I ['m going|am going|going] to comment on several key features of the results of the poll.
According to the data in the diagram, [more|the most|most] widespread way to receive money is getting gifts from [relatives|siblings|friends] with 64 %. On the [hand|point of view|contrary], [latest|the least|little] popular one is selling old things.
Looking at the details, everyone can [notice|think|watch] some surprising facts. Earning money appears to be more common than getting pocket money—55 % and 45 % [commonly|usually|respectively]. Another important thing to [divide|mention|confront] is that earning money online is 22 % more than earning money by doing work.
As far as I can see, earning money can [cause|reason|effect] several problems. The most serious one is that [adolescents|people|children] tend to spend more time looking [to|in|for] a job and doing duties than focusing on studying which is their main responsibility during school time. I believe that a conversation with a career counsellor or school psychologist might be the best [choice|solution |decision] to this problem. [To|In|For] my opinion, school children should perfectly understand that a good [academic|scientific|working] performance is connected to career prospects and more opportunities.
All in all, I am convinced that the desire to earn money should be [encouraging|encouraged |discouraged] because the earlier a person understands the value of their work and time, the more [successful|achievable |workable] they will be in the future.
