Условные придаточные предложения выражают реальные или нереальные условия будущего / настоящего или прошедшего времени, от которых зависит реальность или нереальность содержания главного предложения.

Нулевой тип условных придаточных предложений / Zero-Type Conditional Sentences

Условные придаточные предложения нулевого типа выражают реальное условие, основанное на регулярных наблюдениях, научных фактах или признанных истинах на все времена: If you move closer to the North Pole, the climate becomes colder.

Примечание: вместо союза if в условных придаточных предложениях формального стиля может встречаться союз unless: People usually feel exhausted at the end of the high climb, if they do not take regular breaks / unless they take regular breaks (в условных придаточных предложениях с союзом unless конструкция if they do not something меняется на if they do something).
