A.A certain level of stress can be useful and motivate you, but when it goes up, stress becomes a problem. When there is too much stress to deal with, your health, work and school performance, and social life can all suffer. It can also weaken your immune system and make you more likely to get sick. If left unchecked, health problems can sometimes develop and/or worsen because of stress.

B.In order to relieve stress and prevent it from becoming an issue, you have to learn your stress triggers and signs of stress overload. Remember the times when you were really stressed — are there any common people, places or situations? These are your stress triggers. Some widespread signs of stress overload are memory problems, difficulties with concentrating, irritability, headaches, frequent colds, and changes in sleep or appetite.

C.Nevertheless, it is not possible or necessary to delete all the stress causes from your life. What you actually can do is control how you react to it, and relaxation techniques can help you a lot. For example, yoga, breathing exercises or meditation can make you calm down. Try some of them every day.

D.There are some effective ways to limit your stress by managing your time. First, write down all your daily tasks in your planner or phone, then prioritise your list and divide difficult things into smaller steps or actions. Try to focus on one task at a time — it is not often a good idea to combine two or more activities. The last but not least, be realistic with your time and try not to overload yourself — it only leads to exhaustion and more stress.

E.Caffeine can help you study or work longer by providing an energy boost, but in fact, research shows that you usually make as many errors on coffee or caffeinated drinks as you would if you had not taken them. If you are anxious, caffeine can make it worse and contribute to your worries. Try not to drink more than one caffeinated drink a day (and never in the afternoon and evening), as it can ruin your good night’s sleep.

F.If you are too stressed, it may help to talk to someone like a friend or family member about it. They might have been in a similar situation and be able to offer good advice. It is also good to speak to a psychologist if your stress is out of control, however, you try to reduce it. Psychologists can help you find the hidden reasons for your stress, and can also provide you with some effective relaxation techniques.
