Let's look at these sentences:
- I washed my car yesterday. = I did it myself.
- I had my car washed yesterday. = I arranged for somebody to wash my car for me.
The form have + object + past participle is called the causative.
We use have + object + past participle:
- to talk about things that somebody else does for us: I have my hair cuttwice a month;
- to say that something unpleasant happened to somebody: I had my phone stolenyesterday.
We change the verb have to form verb tenses, negative and question forms.
