In school, it's expected that you are in a very controlled and strict environment, and gradually you get more choice and responsibility as you go through school.
At university you get more freedom and responsibilities, I think. At my university, I choose which lectures to attend and what discussions to [participate|stay|spend] in. No one monitors my [attend|astounding|attendance]. I can do up to 18 hours of lab work a week, but how many is my choice. I feel independent.
I have an hour a week with my tutor, on a one-on-one basis. There is only my tutor and me, so any questions asked have to be answered by me!
