Round and square brackets
Round brackets are used to give some additional information. It can be an explanation, an afterthought, a personal comment, abbreviations or numerals.
Examples: Lady Gaga (a famous American singer and songwriter) started her career when she was 19.
Some people don't like going out (but I do).
WWF (World Wildlife Fund) has been making a difference for 60 years now.
Square brackets are used to modify the speaker's/writer's words in order to clarify the information or to add missing words.
Example: He [the manager] couldn't react properly to the client's complaint.
However, both round and square brackets can be replaced by commas.
