Shopping can influence people's lives, health and behaviour. It can have both positive and negative effects. Here are some of them.

Experts believe that offline shopping is good for both physical and mental health. People who like shopping look and feel better than those who don't. It is some kind of a training when a customer has to walk a long way looking for the desired goods.

Offline shopping is also excellent for the brain. It makes its memory zones more activated. No wonder that doctors advise their older patients to go shopping at least three times a week to keep their brain healthy.

The study also showed that purchasing made through online stores is not as effective as in ordinary shops. To get the therapeutic effect of shopping, a person needs to touch all the items in a shop and feel its atmosphere. It is proved that this type of shopping makes a person three times happier than the one on the Internet.

Shopping can bring joy and satisfaction even if the purchase is small and cheap. Many people tend to buy as much as possible to feel positive emotions. Therefore, it leads to the problem of overconsumption and makes people shopaholics.

Shopaholism has already been called the disease of the 21st century. In the USA, this phenomenon is recognised as a real disease, treated with the help of psychotherapy. According to statistics, about 60% of people make unplanned purchases. They are usually attracted by the colourful packaging, favourable discounts or sales. Sometimes shopping becomes the only passion that makes a person obsessed with purchasing.

Shopping can be useful and help to stay healthy and energetic. It's better to do it not so often and have a list of items to buy. Don't react to sales and discounts and stick to your list. This strategy can help to enjoy the process but not to become obsessed with it.
