Many people associate England primarily with London, as well as France — with Paris, and this is absolutely normal. We remember that London is a Bastion of tradition: Buckingham Palace, home to the Royal family, black cabs and bright red double-decker buses, Trafalgar Square, left-hand traffic and incessant rain. In fact, not only! London today is a place where everything that is truly British successfully gets along with other cultures. Here you can visit plenty of countries in the world — without even leaving this city.
There are several main features that make London such a unique place.

Nowadays, people of two hundred seventy nationalities live there. You can hear more than two hundred languages in London. One-sixth of Londoners were born outside the UK. Residents from India, Poland, Turkey, Jamaica now call London their home, and now it is truly an ideal city for foreigners. Such diversity can be set as an example.

The French often make fun of the English as people who do not have national cuisine. But because of the influx of people from all over the world, London has been made a desirable destination for foodies. Where else can you find such a variety of cuisines and street food? Korean, Thai, Pakistani, Italian and Latin American cafés are all around the city.

London is a prime example of the integration of modern architecture into traditional English buildings. Along with the famous Palace of Westminster, the tower of London and St Paul's Cathedral, the architectural symbols of the city are ultra-modern skyscrapers.

For instance, the world's largest Chinese new year festival outside China is celebrated in London. Hundreds of thousands of people form a multicoloured crowd pass from Shaftesbury Avenue to Trafalgar Square. The programme includes a parade with flying dragons, theatrical performances with traditional Chinese dances and fireworks displays.
