People like to look fashionable, trendy and attractive. And now when we have all these brands like Zara, H&M, Boohoo, and others it is easy and cheap to renew your wardrobe. But more and more people still want to find a balance between looking good and taking care of the environment.

Some will ask why the clothes and fashion industry is harmful? How does it ruin the environment? The production of clothes has doubled in 15 years which made CO2 emissions a lot. Now CO2 emission is even higher than in some areas which were thought to be the "dirtiest". Cotton is not that eco-friendly as we thought. To grow cotton for making only ONE T-shirt we need 2.7 thousand litres of water. One person uses such amount of water in three years! Also we need to remember about chemicals for colouring fabric and other things.

People begin to buy more and keep clothes less. For example, in Europe people now put on a thing 160 times, while 15 years ago they put on a thing 40 times more. Besides, when we wash the clothes made of nylon and polyester they emit very small parts which pollute the water. According to the statistics, more than 60% of young people aged under 24 in the UK worry about the way their clothes have been produced.

Several years ago 94 companies, which occupy 12.5% of fashion industry, signed Global Fashion Agenda 2020 and agreed to make a contribution into saving our planet. According to it, Adidas wants to use only recycled plastic by 2024. H&M is planning to use only recycled and eco-friendly materials by 2030. Urban Outfitters started to give woman's clothes for renting. Prada followed Burberry and Gucci and prohibited to use fur on runways.

Every second a huge lorry of textile is burnt or thrown to a landfill because people don't need it. Only 1% of materials which were produced for the fashion industry are being recycled. Burberry promised to stop "killing" unneeded clothes: they sell to the staff more, they give things for charity. Because they DO care. And this is great!
