Every year millions of people around the world go travelling or on holidays. Time after time inexperienced travellers make the same mistakes that spoil their impression of holidays. According to some recent researches, there are five of the most common mistakes which might be easily avoided.
- Taking too much luggage.
Many people try to take for their trip as many items of clothing as possible just in case. However, this is not right. Experienced travellers know that in fact, you need much fewer things with you. Surveys show that at least six things, of those that an average tourist puts in a suitcase, are not used at all during the trip.
- An excessive amount of shopping and souvenirs.
Many tourists tend to spend hours in the shops, instead of enjoying a holiday in a new environment. However, experts do not recommend shopping too much. After all, most of the things bought in popular touristic areas are either useless or not of high quality. It is also not recommended to buy countless souvenirs because many of them will lose their value after returning home and will simply be stored somewhere in the closet.
- Mobile roaming.
It is hard to imagine a modern person without portable means of communication. However, choosing the wrong tariff for international roaming can easily spoil the whole holiday. As a result, instead of the joy of posting photos and calling your loved ones, you may receive an SMS about being charged an impressive sum of money for communication. Experienced travellers advise to choose the tariff carefully and not to connect to the Internet because free WI-FI is already in every hotel and most cafés.
- The desire to live in the city centre.
While you are just preparing for travelling and planning your trip, it seems to you that it is great to live in the heart of the city. However, in this case, you need to be prepared for a fairly high cost and urban noise. You should remember that in most major cities, life does not stop at night. The optimal distance for living is about 20 minutes to the city centre by public transport or on foot. Therefore, you can rent an apartment at an affordable price in a quiet area and enjoy walks to the main attractions.
- Taking too many photos.
The desire to take as many pictures as possible is a real problem for modern tourists. Moreover, lots of surveys show that almost no one reviews their photos from the previous holidays. The desire to take photos of everything often prevents you from looking around and enjoying what you see.
