The Squid-inspired Robot
When most people think of robots, they think of the human-like androids of science fiction. However, one [gang|unit|team|body] of researchers at Harvard University has a different [method|approach|procedure|tactic] to robotics. [Otherwise|Rather|Although|Instead] of mimicking the human body, they have looked to other [types|forms|modes|kinds] of life for inspiration; namely, the squid.
[Composed|Created|Produced|Built] of a special silicone membrane that is [collected|piled|filled|loaded] with air, the robotic squid can [raise|expand|increase|boost] and contract its body much like a real one. This gives it such flexibility that the robot can [squeeze|cram|press|squash] beneath doors! What's more, by pumping a coloured dye through the robot's veins, it can camouflage itself [according|relevant|concerning|relating] to its surroundings. It can even [convert|transform|manipulate|adjust] its temperature in order to hide from infrared sensors!
The [expansion|evolution|development|growth] of this chameleon-like robot is funded by DARPA (Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency), an agency of the US Ministry of Defence. Could it be, then, that this flexible robot is set to [take off|take on|take down|take in] the role of the world's first digital spy?
