Australia is famous for its unusual fauna. Some of the animals that live there are unique, so you can't see them in other countries. Many tourists come to Australia to see a smiling quokka or to go whale watching. Do you know any animals from Australia? Let's find out!
The platypus is a good example of a unique animal from Australia. And it's no surprise. This creature has brown fur, a bill like a duck and a tail like a beaver. They are also one of the few venomous mammals on the planet.
Quokkas boosted the Internet several years ago as the most cheerful animals in the world. They come from the same family as kangaroos and also have pouches for their babies. Although quokkas look perfect on selfies throughout the Internet, do not forget that they are wild animals, so do not try to feed them in order not to be bitten.
One of the most mysterious creatures in Australia is a tree kangaroo. Scientists have found 14 species, all looking differently. Although they are kangaroos, they prefer to live in the tropical rainforest and jump just like regular kangaroos, but from tree to tree.
They share a lot of characteristics with dogs, but dingos are not dogs at all; they are truly unique creatures. People still argue where it originated from. Some suggest that they migrated from Southeast Asia thousands of years ago, other people claim dingos were brought to Australia by Indian mariners. Their physical abilities are amazing — they can even turn their head 180 degrees!
