When the Internet network appeared in 1990, it was completely useless as it needed to be filled with the information. A scientist from Geneva, Timothy Berners-Lee, started to solve this problem. Before creating the world's first website, he prepared some other important tools. He created URL, HTTP and the programming language known as HTML.
The first website was a kind of a 'folder' for storing basic network documents. It had a personal and original domain name. In fact, the first site was a white home page with information about the most innovative technology of that time, the World Wide Web. Besides, Berners-Lee also posted detailed instructions on installing browsers and servers on a personal computer. That allows us to call the WWW technology the beginning of the modern Internet space.
The first website was also the first online catalogue in the world. It was simple and one-page but it included open content. After some time the developer turned his project into a broad catalogue. It included information about other sites and redirected users to their pages with the help of links.
Today, one can only be surprised by the huge benefits Tim Berner-Lee was able to bring to humanity. The scientist believed that his invention would not only simplify the process of collecting and storing information but also help to get access to it. Now we can say that all his ideas have become a reality. His inventions made a real innovative revolution, which gave rise to the rapid development of modern Internet technologies and online businesses.
