Nowadays it is believed that challenges are a part of everyday life. Without them, life would be meaningless and boring.

So, what is a challenge? Everyone has a unique answer. For some people, it is a challenge to do well at school or university or to build a career. For others, challenges mean making the world a better place or saving people's lives. And for some less fortunate - even everyday life is a challenge.

Mary is an ordinary girl, who lives in Essex, England. She is fifteen years old and she studies at school. But there is one thing that makes her whole life more complicated - she has a disability. Three years ago Mary survived in a terrible car accident and had a spine injury. Unfortunately, now she can move around only using a wheelchair.

But Mary is not the kind of person who would easily give up. She decided to continue her normal life. Mary's friends were shocked when she told them about her plans to continue going to a regular school, taking up tennis lessons and attending art classes almost immediately after recovering. She behaved as nothing had happened at all! Despite anything, she was smiling and laughing most of the time. Of course, even the simplest actions seemed difficult to her at first, but over the years Mary managed to deal with everything.

«People say that what does not kill you will strengthen you», says Mary. «It is true, but only if you can use the right tools to deal with the challenges you face and learn ways to overcome them. I'm so happy to be alive and to feel good after the terrifying experience which I had. And I'm glad to encourage people around me to become braver and face life's challenges with a smile».
