Eco-trails

Eco-trails are specially designed nature trails to show the beauty of wildlife and raise awareness about the impact each person has on the environment. While walking along eco-trails, people not only enjoy the countryside but also improve their health through exercising and breathing fresh air.

Trails can go through natural objects, unique architectural ensembles and monuments. Along the route, walkers may get a program with interesting facts and the history of the region. The eco-trail is also one of the forms to educate people about environmental protection.

The concept of the eco-trail is to teach people how to be environmentally friendly and enlarge their knowledge of the geological and geographical origin of the place, showing the region's flora and fauna. It makes people think about their influence on nature and develops a strong feeling of responsibility towards the surrounding world.

The first eco-routes appeared nearly 60 years ago. They were designed in nature reserves in Northern America and later in Western Europe.

In different countries, eco-trails are called differently: nature trails, eco-paths, nature walks. The length and the duration of these paths can also be different: from 4 to 15 km and up to several days.
